Schuey, a unique friend.

Since Schuey died last month I have received cards, emails, FB posts and several phone calls, thank you all. He was apparently a popular, well liked club member, even though he did 'hog' the front page of the Pit Pass!

Schuey and I spent hundreds of hours at the track and he did consider most of the 80 acres his territory although he was always willing to share. Pam and Ray were kind enough to suggest that he was River's Edge unofficial mascot! I do know that as 'Honorary Club member C001' he made more use of the river than any other club member!

"And it is exceedingly short, his galloping life. Dogs die so soon.
I have my stories of that grief, no doubt many of you do also. It is almost a failure of will, a failure of love, to let them grow old-or so it feels. We would do anything to keep them with us, and to keep them young. The one gift we cannot give"

Mary Oliver, Dog Songs.

A special thanks to Doug Floer for his very thoughtful 'Flags at Half Mast' post.

Keith - I'm sorry to hear about Schuey.  I loved that he was always a part of your pit crew, and the tapestry of the track.

Regards,
Darwin

Great to have you back, Keith. Now just swap those hockey pucks for some rubber and let's get racing.

Tough time emotionally this weekend but thanks to everyone's understanding I actually had some fun racing.

First time out in the '79 this year, I'm rusty and not 'match fit'. A little more track time and I'll install the new tires.
No point in wasting them at my current speed Embarrassed,

However I did get a second place due to a little over excitement on your and Dave's part; keep an eye out for those yellow flags next time out Grin Wink.

Great to have you back on track, Keith.

And if you're rusty... ...that just means we'll both have someone to race until we're up to speed. Smiley

Thanks Alan; it was tough with one of my crew missing and Susan is great but doesn't fetch a ball or swim in the river Sad!

We'll see if my new tires can match your new engine!

Can you call me reference Mac stuff; I thought if you're going to be at the barn in the next few days I could meet you out there?
