Legal tires in GTU
Aug 10th, 2015 at 9:17am

Just trying to find out what a set of Hoosier tires for a GTU Civic CRX would cost, and that would start with knowing what kind of tire it is.

I can almost guarantee that a set of vee tires would be cheaper than GTU tires  Wink

I thought this would be a simple answer Alan, but.. Phew I'm glad I'm not running tin tops Cheesy

As far as I can gather, GTU is a CACC thing, a subclass of GTS, meant to allow cars that don't quite fit into SCCA's GT classes? If that's right, I'm guessing you'd want to run slicks in GTU - no rules on tires that I can find.. In SCCA GT2, GT3 and GTL there are some wheel size limitations but you can run almost anything with a weight penalty. A popular size for old civics and crx's is 20.0x8.0x13 - Hoosiers in that size cost about $220USD each.

So Robbie was right, vee tires are cheaper! Not by much, though Sad

Is the GTU CRX built specifically for GTU or is that it's option "B" class ?
