Granholm Upgrades His Ride

Christmas was good to SCCBC’s Richard Granholm. Richard is moving from his Formula Libra Firman F1000 open wheeler to a brand new West Motorsport LMP4 sports racer for the 2017 season.

The car is Australian built with a complete carbon fibre body and floor, plus a semi-monocoque carbon fibre-reinforced TIG welded chrome-moly space frame chassis (more info at www.westracecars.com.au). Richard can’t wait to get it out on the track to see how it performs.

Richard’s Firman F1000 that has been updated with a new George Dean Suzuki engine and William differential. He has also replaced the front and rear sprockets, chain, brake pads and A-arm bushings to get it in top shape for the 2017 race season. A new de-fuser is a possibility for the upcoming season.

And race cars don’t drive themselves to the track so Granholm is in the process of purchasing a stacker trailer to carry both the Firman and the new West LMP4 sports racer to the track.

Have fun in 2017, Richard. We’ll be watching from the grandstands, drooling from the mouth.
