February 9, 2000 Old Business--Transponder deal is complete. Order forms are here now. (See form in this issue). Rules for mounting will be out shortly. Discussion ensued. Each ICSCC club will have the option of running system for year 2000. The race announcement will indicate whether transponders are required. BYLAWS: Changes were adopted as proposed. NAME THE TRACK: Mike announced the name we have been using since 1994 will be our official name, "River's Edge Road Course at Mission Raceway Park." Kevin suggested we name turn 3 in honor of the Cascade Club in Portland as it was their donation that provided the funds to pave the area. CHARITY COMMITTEE: Mission Foundation, Fraser Valley Cancer & Children's Wish were all considered. It was moved and passed that the executive take the result of a show of hands for support of one or two charities and make their decision and get the ball rolling. Mission Foundation & F.V. Cancer has to largest show of support. ICSCC--They have also ordered transponders. A training session with AMB is in the works, hopefully at the first race at Mission. A suggestion was made to video tape the training session for future use. CACC--Mike Currie reported that Roberta (licence registrar) was in attendance & accepting renewal applications. Discount date was extended to the end of March. Joint sanction races are planned for Bremerton & Munroe & 2 at Mission. AGM is Sunday Mar 12 at 10:00am at the Sheraton Guildford. VINTAGE- have requested 3 races on our CACC weekends on the Sunday only. We should be prepared to have enough entries for more than one group. Vintage Club has offered OASC $1000 in return for a free practice day once a year for 3 years. M.E.T.A.- They had a successful banquet with tons of door prizes. Training sessions are coming up soon. Recruiting is very important this year with the lengthening of the track. Please do your part to encourage others to become involved. RACE CHAIR--Perrin expressed concern about the conflicting dates with CACC & ICSCC and how that impacts us for workers. META has a promotional video that clubs or members can use to help in recruiting. Volunteer rescue groups may be a good place to start our efforts. RDC- Drivers Training is just about booked full. RDC had a meeting after the regular meeting. MEMBERSHIP--147 renewed so far. Roster coming out later this year. HISTORIAN- Historical Faux Pas--Ron shared his memories about the early days of Westwood when comedians would be booked to come up and start the races. At one event Ron was lamenting loudly to the race chairman about not being able to get the race started, cars & drivers overheating on the starting grid, due to the late arrival of the scheduled entertainer. During his tirade Shelly Berman piped up from behind him, "I'm Here!" At another event the club arranged for a helicopter & landing area to bring up Frank Sinatra Jr. They were amazed when he arrived on the mountain top by car. No one had thought to ask… he was afraid to fly! |
