CACC NEWS: At the last CACC Race Discipline meeting a couple of questions were directed to Scott Martin, SCCA NWR Ass't Exec for Race (great title, huh?). Here are some answers: 1. A question was put forward regarding eligibility for the PCRRC. Scott's response is: You can go to PCRRC (Pacific Coast Road Racing Championship) with a CACC license, but you
must be a NWR member before they start to accrue points. SFR sets the requirements for attending, but it is usually 3 races within your region, so someone could run both Mission co-sanctioned races and one at Bremerton or Monroe and qualify, if they are in a car that meets the NWR region rules. 2) We had a question regarding META workers attending and working SCCA Regional events. SCCA has a program which allows workers to accumulate Worker Bucks and use them towards a NWR membership. Scott's response is Worker bucks, every worker earns $5 a day for working at Bremerton and $10 for the 1 day at Monroe, for a total of $50. If you work 3 of the 5 weekends you get an additional $15, which will pay your $65 membership. The money must be used to join NWR, not another re

Two small items which I neglected to include in the CACC Race Discipline report: 1. Foot box protection rule has been slightly revised. Foot box protection is required on all GT and IP cars per the 2000 rulebook. GT cars (which must meet the SCCA rules) have protection on both sides of the car (that is drivers side and passenger side) from the front roll bar hoop forward to either frame rail or strut tower. IP cars may have a bar only on the drivers side from the front roll bar hoop to the front firewall or wheel well. In the case of IP cars, the bar may not extend beyond the firewall. It is recommended that IP cars be equipped with a bar on the passenger side of the car, as well. 2. A discussion has been put forward by META regarding the use of the Black Flag. Ed Smart (Chief Steward) advises that the Black Flag may be shown at other stations besides the start/finish. That's it. Mike Currie CACC RACE DIRECTOR

ACCOLADES: Every once in a while someone comes into your life, whether work, family or play, and does something that exceeds your expectations, makes your life a little bit easier or simply makes you smile. Too often we don't take the time to say thank you. Not this time. Roberta Currie, you are a gem. Like the Curries that precede you in our little racing world (none related) you stand out in your efforts. Lets be honest folks, when Roberta came on as licence director, straight from the solo ranks, we were skeptical. Hopeful, but skeptical. Not only has Roberta been at every Mission event, she has attended many SCCBC club meetings to connect with the drivers. She has cooperated fully with the race registrar and bent over backwards to help our novices get started. Recently I called Roberta late one evening on a request from our ASN vice president. A new young driver , Ryan Floer from Sidney BC, is making the jump from karts to road racing. He was scouted at the Russell school and had an opportunity to compete in the F1600 series back east on Easter weekend. He needed a club membership and a regional racing licence, fast. Roberta saw the last minute request not as an inconvenience or a problem, but as a challenge. Through her ingenuity and desire to help, faxes and phone calls were exchanged & Ryan was on his way. One example of her winning ways.
Thanks Roberta. Its great to have you on our team.
PS Stand by for more on Ryan. Our latest club- sponsored young driver.
