The PIT PASS

(Continued from page 2)

all of us…

On a positive note, the club has been enjoying a good season so far with decent grids. This is due partially to our Canadian dollar, but I have received several comments from racers that are complimentary about how we run our events. At the last event, we were complimented on how well we stuck to the schedule, how friendly our officials were, how nice our paddock is, how the PA has improved as well as the announcing and how great the view is from our grandstands. It is easy to take these things for granted and very nice to be reminded…

AT THE TRACK

TRACK EXTENSION:

As of June 26th, we have placed 310 trucks of various types of gravel on site to bring the level of the land up to where we should in order not to have any water problems on our race track. We have a 1% grade on the land from the drag strip towards the North (the so-called Salmon River) Road which will be our back straightaway of approximately 1100 feet. Our total addition will be approximately 2649 feet or 1/2 mile. I am sure glad that the weather gods have decided to cooperate with us so we can get the most important part of this project finished, which is the preparation of the land.

We are very fortunate to have Carl Penner as our Laser Guided Grader Operator. Everyone I have spoken to says that Carl is one of the very best grader operators in BC. We only have one more day of land prep to do and I will leave this until we pave. All of the paving companies want to see more gravel base under their pavement, but the lay of the land does not allow for more gravel or we will lose our 1% grade of drain off and we are over budget on the land prep already. Carl, who has been prepping land for pavement for many years, says we are in very good shape and even the "soft" areas have hardened up very nicely.
Harry Watson of Metro Testing has helped out greatly with

the asphalt specifications. Harry has written the specs for a special asphalt mix that will withstand race cars of every type and weight. All the asphalt companies now have the specs that we want to lay and I am awaiting their revised quotes. Harry has also given us two more companies which have worked with Metro Testing and the special mix, I am awaiting their quotes as well.
We still have lots of work to do with tire bundles to build and concrete blocks to place (which we don't have yet). Chainlink fencing to place on top of the concrete blocks in front of the grandstands, Turn Marshal stands to build and so on, and so on! All SCCBC members and interested people should get in touch with Track Operations. This committee of six people
can not do this alone! We need help please! Call Bryan at 467-2910, Curt at 466-0572, or Terry at 939-5327.

Any questions or comments, please call me at 939-5327 or e-mail me at trw@direct.ca.See you at the track!
