Wondering what to do if I want to run both sanctioning bodies?

I remember hearing a few years ago that each club recognized the others license, but I was told last year I would need a CACC license to run a CACC event.
I emailed the ICSCC licensing director a while back, but never received a reply, so Im not sure what to do.

Well, it certainly goes without saying that if you want to run for a CACC championship you have to have a CACC license and the same goes for an ICSCC championship but beyond that I will defer to those more up on this than I am.

The way I see it, the CACC Lic. rules now require all Canadian driver's racing at Mission in a Conference class in an ICSCC race (the upcoming Labour Day weekend, for ex.) to hold the CACC Lic. even if they have a Conference Lic. So you will need both to enter that weekend, regardless.  Otherwise, one lic. works for all other races. If I'm wrong, i'm sure someone will correct this...  :D

As a Canadain, you must have a CACC (or ASN/FIA) license in order to run any event at Mission. So if you intend on racing here, get the CACC license. If you also intend on competing for points in Conference, get the ICSCCC license as well.

You may want to double check the ICSCC rule book, but if you only want to run in ICSCC events, I think you only need the ICSCC license.

The last decision I heard was that Canadians running at a Canadain track in an event being run by a club affiliated with CACC, had to have a CACC license. Hopefully someone from CACC will chime in here and confirm.

I should have mentioned that Championship points, for either club, is of no importance to me. Because of where I live/work sched, I will never be able to make enough races to make it matter.
It's because of this that I want to have another option for race venues, but I also want to retain my CACC license.
Right now, I can only make the SCCBC March date.

The "Canadian running a ICSCC event in Canada needs a CACC license." is what I was told last fall. Sounds like my info was fairly close.

Can't see how that would apply.  The club runs those and they are not under ICSCC so even on the Friday of the Conf. race, it SHOULD be just fine to run the practice as long as you have 'some' license! Right??

It would be great if one license would suffice for either club, even if it was seperate from the individual club licenses. Like a "international license".  Would be willing to pay more for it if it covered both.

Or they could just accept each others licenses....

...And then you decide you'd like to run an SCCA Majors event, which means another membership and another license :)

Sort of paying for 2 memberships/licenses, Im not really seeing a clear choice.

From ICSCC 2013 Regulations

E 613. Any non-ICSCC licensed competitor entered in a Conference race must
present his/her credentials to the ICSCC License Director prior to
entering the race course. The following minimum requirements must be
met before a non-ICSCC license holder may compete in an ICSCC race:

A. Must hold a valid equivalent competition license issued by CACC,
SCCA, NASA or FIA/ASN. Licenses of other sanctioning bodies
may be honored at the discretion of the License Director.

B. Must have proof of competing in at least two (2) races in the
current/or prior season.

C. Must hold a current valid driver’s license issued State, Province,
and/or other sovereign nation.

D. Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age in the US or
nineteen (19) years of age in Canada. (Fall 2010)

Competitors not meeting requirements 613 A and/or 613 B must
first run a Novice race under observation. They may then, at the
discretion of the License Director, be permitted to race in a Senior
race during the weekend.

So you are "non-ICSCC" if you hold a CACC lic.  Point A says that you can compete with that lic.  You do not have to have a ICSCC lic.  If you are thinking of heading to Spokane you can use your CACC lic.  Now recent history and politics have shown that you should contact the ICSCC Lic director early and let him know your intentions.  No it doesn't say that but you should. 

You will not get ICSCC points.  You will also have to run a 7 series number to indicate that you are not a ICSCC competitor.

No, you just need one club membership....  SCCBC as an example.  Then you also need at least one race lic......CACC as an example.

So if you just want to run an event as you say and not worry about points then you don't need both. 

Now this is for a ICSCC race in the USA.  When you talk about running a ICSCC race up here then it gets confusing as CACC does have a requirement for Canadians to run with a CACC lic.  I have always had both so it never bothered me.  If you run in the US under a CACC then this does not matter since you would run in Canada under a CACC.

Now I would recommend that you apply for both lic.  The added cost is pretty small taken over the budget for a race season and I think it is good to support both groups.  In my case I have one club.... SCCBC and I hold a CACC and ICSCC lic. 

The other benefit to both lic. is that you can get one car number that is good in both series and you don't need to be swapping numbers between events. 

If you do want a ICSCC lic for points then you have to get both medical's completed by your doctor as they are different.  I usually just take in both and the doctor fills them out at the same time.

Short  answer.  Get a CACC. License  conference happy to accept it. 

Scca and Icscc will accept Cacc Race driver licenses.
You have to be a member of Scca to enter their events.
Scca will accept ASN Canada FIA vehicle log books. This is specifically mentioned in their GCR. Check the individual class preparation rules. There are many differences.
Scca may not accept Icscc vehicle log books at the National/majors events.
Buy all three drivers race licenses is the best idea. Score points anywere.
