Title: 2015 race schedule
Post by racestec on Dec 1st, 2014 at 9:50am
The Club Executive is trying to finalize our 2015 schedule. We are seeking input as to how many races our racers and volunteers will support and attend. The draft schedule has 7 race weekend spread evenly through the season. There are a minimum of 2 free and clear weekend between races. Basically one race each month. Is this good or should we reduce the number?
Thanks Ray.

I'd go for 7 weekend as long as there aren't too many conflicts where I want/need to be somewhere else.

Presumably the Labour Day weekend would be the Conference race.

Was there positive feedback on the Double/Double weekend in October?  Is there any consideration for a repeat of that format on one of the weekends next year?  I missed it this year, but would definitely target something similar next year.

Cheers,

Jay Nash

I would like to see more double weekends like we did in oct  with less race weekends it would be a lot less taxing on our volunteers and make for much better racing.
Why burn up tires and equipment for separate practice and qualifying most drivers turn it into an unoffical race anyway so i would rather make majority of the laps count.
How many laps do you need to practice i think you learn alot more in a race than you will in practice because you are forced to step up your game plus this would mean that you spend a little more time getting prepared for race weekend rather than using race weekend to get car ready for the race. I would rather racing than just doing laps ;)

I also thought the double race days on the last weekend were a great idea.  The more races the better.

I liked the double-double style weekend last year. If we could couple those weekends with a Friday practice day, that would satisfy anyone who wants to test, tune and practice, plus have plenty of racing. I'd like to think that I could make all 7 race weekends, but may miss one or two, probably repairing the car. Hopefully I won't miss a double!

No problem with 7 weekends. Does that include the ICSCC weekend? The double race weekend was great! However anyone sorting out car issues or trying new set up's etc., might want to have some "practice time". Besides, some of us "newbies" need the practice .......  :P

Any idea on when a 2015 schedule would be available?
for SCCBC and the Vintage club.
I hope to get out in my restored Brabham and maybe in the Nissan.

How can you do any setup in a Pro 3 car after T2 with three cars tring to fit in the space meant for two cars all yor setup is out the window by T3. I think the three of you should come over to Formula Ford where the really cool race cars are. ;D

TENTATIVE schedule for 2015

March 21-22 Driver Training

April 4-5 CACC race 1

May 30-31 CACC race 2

June 13-14 Driver Training #2

June 27-28 CACC race 3

July 18-19 CACC race 4

Aug 8-9 CACC race 5

Aug 22-23 , VRCBC Historics

Sept 5-6-7 ICSCC race

Oct 10-11 CACC race 6

We have been advised by custom car that one weekend in the summer may need to be shifted. They won't know for sure until Jan 14th on this. If they do move it, it may not affect out tentative schedule. So what you see above is pretty solid. This is the best spaced schedule I have seen in years. Time to prep and fix between races, maybe do some out-of-towner's as well.

I couldn't remember the last w/e race schedule. But I do think it's important to keep the practices for a couple of reasons....novices obviously, and of course new drivers to the track. I personally like the practice option....maybe just for the Saturday part of the w/e, and then do away with it on Sunday? and race your a$$ off. Just my opinion.
The double w/e seemed to be received very well, and it's a great way to end the season for the "point" enthusiast.

Do you plan on having an event prior to Knox Hillclimb which is May 16-17 this year?

Opps.......sorry I just scrolled down & April 4-5 is on. Great!
Thanks

Thanks for the info & update, I can appreciate how hard it is to balance all the interests and come up with a schedule.

For myself, with limited vacation days from work, I have to take advantage of the stat holiday weekends to maximize the family vacations I can do.  Racing on a holiday weekend is problematic at best, and often impossible.  Similarly, races at the end of a week after a mid-week summer stat are in direct competition with family vacations.

I realize that for many, racing is a family thing - but for some of us it is not.  With this schedule, I will most probably miss 2 of 6 CACC races, possibly 4 of 6.  Which likely takes me out of the class championship run, doesn't help the small class meet it's minimum numbers to be 'official', and the lower class attendance makes for diminished competition in general.

I realize this may not be a majority opinion, but thought I'd share my thoughts.

Cheers,
Darwin
