Yeah, I know it's a hillclimb and not a race, but think about doing this flatout in a million $$ car!!!

After you buy that thing you can't afford a driving suit.

Did you notice the awful understeer on this car?

if it's on period correct tires I'm surprised he had that much grip. It was one thing to throw these things around on a wide open track but to keep it between the walls and barriers of this goat path they call a road is truly the epitome of skilled. Hats off to him.

I wouldn't want to start an arguement, but I've heard from some other experienced drivers (from that era, too) who contend the car definitely understeered a lot, but that the driver wasn't all that good.

It's debateable, either way.

As an aside, when we used to race at Westwood in the very early 60s we had a couple of young people who towed all the way from Cloverdale, California. The raced a 300SL and towed it to Canada using another 300SL as a tow vehicle. Cool!
