The title is a little bit misleading. The first land speed record was set with an electric car, and this leads into this conversation about driving the FormulaE series cars.
As an interesting local note, an employee of one of my sponsors, Murray GM, is regularly drag racing his brand new 2017 Chevy Volt. He says it is doing 14 sec. which is quite respectable! 8-) |

One of my 'renters' let me drive his E BMW; it reached 120kph in about a 1/4 mile, but it was still like driving a fast golf cart! ::)

Don't worry Keith, by the time the world bans Chevy or Honda piston engines, we'll be gone.
As a gearhead I never thought I'd ever buy anything without a V8, but with Elon's 'Ludicrous Mode' making his newest car the quickest production vehicle on the planet, I know the days of racing around with hydro-carbons are numbered. As the world changes, I hope enough youngsters will still enjoy going faster than the other guy in a vehicle they can control and afford. If not, autoracing of all kinds will die with this generation. :( PS - You can do a comparison drive in my Volt anytime. I'd value your opinion between the Beamer and the Chevy. I don't play golf... ;) EDIT: http://www.cnn.com/2016/02/05/motorsport/venturi-world-land-speed-record-electric-370-mph/index.html Maybe there is hope! |
