Hi… as someone who served for 5 years as the president of TAC (Toronto Autosport Club), I know that this kind of vague inquiry can be absolutely maddening, but on the other hand it can also make for a good and lively conversation at the next monthly meeting… and be a useful part of the next newsletter.

I have recently learned that my 1966 Austin Cooper S was owned by Richard Edwards, whom I believe lived in BC.

I have discovered three dash plaques in this car: they are engraved as follows...

• Rotten Reverse, Sept. 13 70, 0-1300 FTD 1st, R Edwards Cooper 1.39.116

• McGill’s Nightmare, Nov. 8 70, C Sedan 3rd R. Edwards Cooper S

• C Sed - OASC - 3’28’71, Dave’s Speed Event, 3rd - R. Edwards C’pr S

As a long time (since 1969) volunteer participant in Canadian motorsport (with brief periods of competition), I’m pretty comfortable saying that none of those events ran here in the east.

I’m also comfortable with suggesting that the first two events above were slalom, or gymkhana events… and perhaps the 1971 one was a non-race at Westwood.

I just don’t know.

Maybe on the prairies?

Any help or insight you or other members can offer regarding the history of those dash-plaque events would be very much appreciated…

Is probably the Okanagan Autosports Club in Kelowna, the club that put on the Knox Mountain Hill Climb for so many years.

Malcom, I hope you post up your findings. I'm curious - sorry I cannot offer any insight.

maybe a solo event hosted by the Okanagan club? would it be too late in the season for ice racing?
