Title: Newb Question - CACC or ICSCC or Both?
Post by rutger on Jun 29th, 2010 at 1:03pm
I'm new to SCCBC and doing my drivers training in July. I have a car that is registered with CACC to IP3 and I'm wondering if I also have the opportunity to race in any ICSCC events?
Can you configure a car to run in both conferences or is it "pick one horse and ride it" sort of a deal? Just trying to get a feel for how I might maximize track time next season!

Thanks.

Depends on the car.  Most CACC IP3 cars can also be classed in ICSCC ITA.

There are a few exceptions.  My Integra GS-R and Curt's Del Sol VTEC are IP3/ITS cars.

What car do you have?

'92 Nissan NX 2000, which should be IP2 in CACC based on 2.0L displacement.

In that case, build it according to the SCCA Improved Touring rules here: http://cms.scca.com/documents/Club%20Forms/2010%20Tech%20Forms/it-%20JAN.pdf

You'll then be able to race in the ICSCC ITA group at a minimum weight of 2515 lbs and in CACC IP2 with a minimum weight of 2361 lbs.

Other than the difference in minimum weight, you won't have to make any changes to the car at all if you build it to the Improved Touring rules.
