Title: Datsun 510 Racecar for sale (MORE PHOTOS)
Post by blacksheep on Feb 8th, 2011 at 3:38pm
Datsun 510 race car, SCCA/ICSCC GT Lite for sale as roller. Last time I raced this car I set a GIP record at Seattle, I sold the car and have now bought it back. I am taking eng, trans, rad, exhaust, front susp, & front brakes. Car was race ready until I took driveline; Specailty Engineering fiberglass fenders, airdam, rear flares, and trunk. Very nice black paint inside and out; Kirkey race seat, 5 point harness, window net, removable steering wheel, alum dash, autometer gauges, removable switch panel, fuel cell, steelbraid fuel & brake lines, Tilton brake M/C, rear discs with wilwood calipers, lexan side & rear window, 13x7 Diamond Racing wheels (5), Hoosier slicks (1 new), welded diff, half shafts, slotted rear subframe. $5000 or $4500 with out gauges, switches, seat & belts. Also have Nissan Comp header $100. Will post photos tomorrow.  Very, Very Good car, hate to sell  :'( but I want to race Vintage and they don't allow flares or fiberglass.  ;D

I just found out at the club meeting that this is now vintage eligable. I have a 2 ltr and 5 speed, I will include
these and the comp header in the sale.

To be vintage eligible, as I understand it, you will have to obtain original homologation papers from FIA that may or may not list Group 1 & group 2 optional parts. These types of approvals are not blanket and will vary from vehicle to vehicle.

I certainly hope that any information I relayed didn't imply that these homolgation papers apply cross the board - they do not. This is an important step, I hope you understand. I'm not trying to rain on a parade, just saying you need to do your homework - the onus is up to the individual, not the organizers.

My own experience shows that for the Datsun 1200, there are seven pages of optional accessories authorized for use by the FIA back in 1971. I am still considering this and haven't decided against on GT Lite.

Hope this is helpful, just do the research!

This car should be ok with the VRCBC "Classic" REVS group (includes up to1975) vintage grids on the CACC race weekends.

My understanding is that it will be a track day car to begin with.

Yup, I will start out with doing some lapping/track days till I learn the ropes, and then hopefully find some more time and start competing.

Whatever I do with the car though is going to be a blast!

Thanks Brian!
