Title: 2011 Children's Charities Grand Prix
Post by ryano on Jun 9th, 2011 at 3:27am
Last night the club approved the event plan for the 2011 CCGP August 5, 6 & 7, 2011!  We are very excited to hold this event which is now in its 4th year!

Format will be similar to previous years with a practice day Friday, Sat qualifying and a Sunday Race.

Classes are P1 and P2.  Race announcements and supp regs will be on the website in the next couple of days.

If you "Intend to Enter" send the form to me at ryanoc@shaw.ca as soon as possible.  Selected entrants will be notified and then will be eligible to sign up on Motorsport.reg.

We will be holding Hot Laps for Kids again this year, doing a motorcycle stunt show and will have kids bouncy castles and other activities.  The raffle will include a flat screen TV and other prizes and there will be a 50/50 draw.  There will also be a weekend long bar-b-que.

We have raised $85,000 for Children's Wish and BC Children's Hospital over the past 3 years.  Join us in reaching our fundraising goal of 100k this year.

The race announcement, intent to enter and supplemental regs are posted now.  Please send in your forms as soon as possible to ryanoc@shaw.ca.

Once you get an email back from me you be able to register on Motorsport Reg.

There is a lot of excitement building for this years race.  With the help of the Vintage Club we have already raised 1360.00 for the charities through Hot Laps 4 Kidz during the HMR Weekend.  Thanks to the organizers for making this happen.

Entries are starting to come in.  Send in your intent to enter as soon as possible - you don't have to pay until the race weekend.

Entry deadline has been extended to July 15th.  I know some drivers that have spoken to me about entering but have not sent in their "Intent to Enter" forms yet.

Please send them in asap so we get a sense of numbers.

If you are still considering entering CCGP I will accept late entries.  We would like to see the field be as big as possible.

We have about 20-23 intent to enters at the moment but not everyone has registered in Motorsport Reg yet.

Support the CCGP!  Dust off that car and get  your entry in!

Looking at MotorsportReg.com I only see twelve entries for the CCGP. I was of the impression that there were supposed to be considerably more. I hope there's a bunch of late entries "lurking with intent".

I am not able to get down this year , even as a spectator, for the weekend's festivities. .

But I do want to wish Ryan and everyone  a very successful

Thank you to everyone that made this years event a huge success.

Without you, we would not have been able to do this.  So many people gave of their time, resources and effort to pull off a great weekend.

Drivers you did a great job out there today.  Completely professional and entertaining.  Some real battles going on out there and even some drama (thanks DSP).

I will update shortly with amount raised  but suffice to say it was a successful weekend for both spectator, racer and volunteer.  Thank you to my team and to all of our sponsors for your support.

Thanks Keith.  If folks could send me or post their pictures on the CCGP 2011 facebook page that would be great.  Can anyone tell me which car had the big spin in t2?  I missed it as I was in the tower but it sounded like quite a save.  A bit of a description for a media piece would help.

Thanks Michael.  Could not have done it without you and the rest of the exec team at SCCBC.

I am still trying to find out out who spun in T2 during the race - anyone?

Hugh Richards, Green RX7, #179.  It was described to me as an awesome recovery under power to avoid wall contact, rather than a spin!
