Title: Work Party
Post by racestec on Apr 7th, 2014 at 9:03am
Hi everyone, There is a work party planned for April 12th starting at 9:30AM. the main focus is tire walls. This is a dirty job, so a change of clothes for the drive home might be in order. Paul Higgins will be in charge of the day. contact him if you have any questions.

Seriously???
Is it April Fools Day tomorrow?
This announcement comes with LESS than 24 hrs notice, and on a weekday?
Its getting to be a really exclusive club...

There will be more work parties in the future, with more advance notice.

So far this year I haven't been caught in any line ups at the front gate so I don't think the short notice will make much difference  :-/!

It would be more effective to email the entire membership and invite them to come out, rather than just limiting it to the few people who actually read this forum.
When I was Track Operations Chairman, I usually gave the members at least 2 to 3 weeks notice and scheduled work parties for a weekend.
I also made sure to contact key people in other clubs as well such as the Vintage and Motorcycle clubs.
Those 2 groups alone, typically yielded more volunteers than all the SCCBC memberships combined!
I also would have someone post on Fb ( that is Facebook ) and sometimes I had Cherie do an email blast as well.

I will be at the track again on Thursday March 5 from noon til 5:30. Thanks to Heather, Robbie, Jen and Keith who came out last time.
I posted the work party notice last time at the prompting of a couple of club members who were aware that I was out at the track on a weekly basis doing work. They asked me to advise the membership so they could come out and pitch in if they had time. There will be large organized work parties hosted by the Track Maintenance and Prep Committee in the near future. They will be advertised well in advance.

Thanks to the club members who came out to our last work party on Saturday. Thanks Keray, Heather, Norm, Pam, Roland, Peter, Tracey and Keith. We got a fair amount done, but could have done more if we had a few more bodies. Hope to see you at the next one.
