MyLaps (AMB) has moved to a stupid subscription based transponder that will have to be renewed (for a fee) annually. I don't think they are still selling the old style ones any more. Retailers may still have stock of the old ones. If you can't find a used one, check with Frank at Driver's Edge ... his website indicates he still has the old ones: http://www.driversedgeautosport.com/amb_transponder_wired_auto.html

Are you suggesting all our transponders will become obsolete?

As far as I can tell it only affects the MyLaps online results. Its's not like they can turn off your transponder if you stop paying the subscription after a year.

I'm hoping the whole thing backfires on them...

Nope. It used to be totally free.
