Whats happening with the grandstands?
As many of you know, the old turn two grandstands have been removed. There were two reasons for this. 1) they were old and not up to current standards, the wood planks needed constant maintenance and there was always a risk of one of them breaking. 2) the ground underneath the stands had shifted  and settled too much to safely supports the stands.
Last year we purchased replacement stands but we have not yet put them up because we need to deal with the ground issue first (after the removal of the old stands). We have done an examination of the area and come up with what we think is the most feasible plan. We will be bringing in fill material and place / pile it on the areas where the new stands will be placed. These piles will stay there for a number of months in order to compact the subsurface material. We will then use the concrete blocks that we have already brought on site to encircle the piles which will be leveled to elevate the stands that will be placed on top. In the mean time we will erect a section of stands on a temporary basis. This section is pushed forward into where the now demolished wheelchair platform used to be. The design of the new stands allow for quick and easy disassembly/assembly should there be a need in the future to re level the ground base underneath them.
