track changes and update

Track changes and status
We have been busy through November and December so it is past time for an update.
As everyone knows we are overdue to repave turn 6 and we need to expand pre-grid and develop some additional pit pads.
We also need to try and gain some track room to address the Mission “tunnel effect” and to provide pullout room to minimize the growing problem of synthetic oil-downs. A major synthetic spill is serious in terms of the difficulty to clean for safety and to address the concerns for high speed dragsters.
We also needed to address out block shortage and the cost of replacements.
All changes have been through the track operations committee, the SCCBC executive, CACC and have been track walked by Tony Morris Sr.
Paving.
Pre-grid is expanding 20 feet on both the north and south sides. The area has been scraped, the fences are down and the pre-grid building has been moved. The scrapings have been used elsewhere on the track.
An additional 5 double pads are being added on the west end.
The entire turn 6 is being ground out and repaved.
An additional block has been removed for track exit to the pits. The entry will remove the exit lane encroachment on turn 9. The area has been prepped for paving.
“De-tunneling” and salvaging blocks
Between turn 2 and 3 we now have 15 feet of grass on drivers left (as before) for ˝ the straight and then no blocks on drivers left all the way to turn 3. The open area has been graded to smooth the track edge transition and gravel from the pre-grid has been used to fill dips and holes.  Where the blocks end they now turn left for 90 feet  to provide a catch for any turn 1 overshoots.
This removal of blocks provides over 25 good replacement blocks (minimum $13,000) which gives us considerable breathing room on block purchases.
Drivers left turn 6 has all blocks temporarily removed and the area is being cleared and graded. The power pole has been removed and the hydrant will be removed. The blocks will be replaced about 6 feet further in and will be radiused all the way around 6 to provide full line of sight.
All the blocks have been temporarily removed drivers right between turn 6 and 7. Fill is being used to widen the bank and it is hoped to have about 4 feet between the track and blocks. This will open the track and provide pullout room.
The turn 6 workers station has been dismantled and will be replaced with a structure similar to the one we built for turn 8.
Misc.
The track has been cut for conduit at pit out, at the tech area and at the turn 2 exit. Conduit is being placed to accommodate wiring and speaker upgrades.
The PA system is out for repairs, assessment and a new speaker layout is being designed. New amps will need to be purchased.
Drainage issues continue to be a problem.
