4x100mm Versus 4x3"?
Feb 22nd, 2012 at 3:46am

I'm shopping for used wheels and finding lots that are 4 x 100 mm bolt pattern, but my car (vintage) is 4 x 3 inch bolt pattern.  Three inches is awfully close to 100 mm, so I'm thinking that these two bolt patterns may just be two ways of saying the same thing.  Does anyone know if that's true?

100 mm is 3.93 inches, which I'd say is closer to 4"

Yeah, sorry everyone, big typo there.  The bolt pattern is 4 x 4", not 4 x 3".  Sorry for the confusion.

Bob and I talked about it off line and I think he's right that, while 4 x 100mm and 4 x 4" are close, they're not the same thing.

Volvos run 5x108mm wheels and Saab's run 5x110mm.. I've heard of people mixing them up using "Wobble bolts".

Not sure if I'd trust my life to something like that, but..

My car uses studs and nuts, but apparently they make wobble nuts, too.  So it might be a possibility.  Thanks for the idea.

Wobble bolts seem a lot more popular in Europe than they are around here.
