Is anyone going to Edmonton this weekend who can give us a report on how things go. Obviously, we'll see the IndyCar race on the tube, so we're interested in the club race.

Weather looked good. Seemed like a good crowd. Pretty good IndyCar race.

SO......? Did anyone go?

My friend in Calgary was in the race and has told me that there were two long caution periods which did not go down well with the organizers.

Probably didn't go down well with the guys who'd ponied up the big bucks for the entry, either. Sometimes it's unavoidable, but.........

Don’t remember 2 long cautions but the Friday qualifying race was shortened with a car fire near the end. Red then checkered with less than 5 min remaining.

Main race on Saturday had 1 FCY with you guessed it another car fire!!! This one much bigger. Corner marshals almost had it under control when the driver thought it would be a good idea to open the hood…………..it wasn’t a good idea!!!!!!!!
3 bottles of cold fire from the marshals and whatever the safety truck had on board to get it out.

Meanwhile as the FCY came out for the car fire, the leader, who was clearly the fastest car and set for an easy win, passed a backmarker before the pacecar could pick him up.
So the pacecar picked the 2nd place car. The leader now technically a lap ahead was penalized and the 2nd place car went on to win when it went back to green.
