Testing between Race weekends
Sep 4th, 2012 at 8:11am

I had a little trouble with my brakes yesterday, but we didn't conclusively figure out what was going wrong.  I'm going to replace my rotors and calipers and fully expect this to fix the trouble, but I'd really like to give them a good test before next race weekend.

Is there anywhere around the Vancouver area that I could take a non-street legal car up to 80-100kmph, make a couple of hard turns and do some hard braking without risking police involvement?

Thanks,
Rod.

I live in Penticton and the local roundy-round track accomodates this kind of stuff, usually for cheap. Maybe contact the Agazzi Speedway and see if you can join in on a practice night?

Their web site says they have Test and Tune on Sept 11 ... perfect timing ... I'll give them a call and post their response here.  Thanks for the tip!

I managed to find a big private parking lot to get up a little speed and now have confidence in my brakes!  Sorry I can't share that location ... it's not mine to offer out.   But just in case anyone else has need access to their speedway here is my exchange with the people at Agassiz.

================================
I'm a regular Miata driver out at the Mission Road Race course (not the drag strip).  I am working on my brakes and would like chance to test my fix before our next event on Sept 22.  From your web site it looks like I'd have to pay $25 admission plus a $200 car and driver membership.  Any chance I get in a few laps on a one time basis without paying the full membership fees?

================================
Their response:
Hi Rod - if you are interested we  could have you  come early and pay $50. to test for 1/2 hour before the rest are out on the track.
If you would like to discuss , please call Barb at xxx-xxx-xxxx.

I raced at Agassiz for 12 years; that response is typical. They are fine people and generous sportspersons!! Smiley Grin Grin
