Race Season is here
Mar 20th, 2013 at 6:55am

I just wanted to wish everyone good luck and a safe and sucsessful race season . I am new member to the sccbc but do have a connection to the club  my father   ( Greg Schiewe am sure some of you knew him or at least his car ,it is a 1956 austin healey with a corvette 327 and a muncie 4 spd with 4 11 gears )      was a member and corner worker at westwood . My God Father Skip Alexander I believe was the treasurer at one time as well . So growing up my brother and I were track rats and loved the door to door racing we all enjoyed at westwood .My Father is gone now and i wish he was hrere to see his two sons race ( corvettes, zo6) together at rivers edge for the first time  this year  , but his legacy lives on and he is with  us at every race in our  hearts  . I will do all i can to promote our amazing sport and club to all who will listen. God I love racing ! Looking forward to seeing  all the friendly faces  at the track, everyone is so nice and willing to lend a hand it really does feel like a family. I also  would like to thank the executive commitee, techs  and all the turn workers and volunteers who with out we would not be racing ...so thankyou for all you do  Smiley to keep us all racing !   Todd Schiewe  01 corvette z06

Wow....what a great reason for racing.....I'm sure he's watching and will be extremely proud of you guys competing  together.  Smiley And please, keep the positive attitude you have throughout the season. It's awesome to see such enthusiasm.

Come and say hello at the "Vee Hive".

Congratulations and welcome.

Yes what a great post.....isn't that the perfect example of why we all love this sport so much?!!!

The track will be "buzzing" (get it.....buzzing.....bee hive??)  Shocked This weekend with driver training students.  Come on down and say hello and see the next crop of racers being groomed.

As a matter of interest, how many students are there this weekend?

I can relate to that 56 Healey with the 327.  Used to drive a 54 with a Corvette engine and a

BW 4 speed in the early sixties. Even did a novice race at Green Acres and a hill climb with it.

Those conversions were quite common back then.  Certainly wish I had it to-day.

WE still have Dad's Healey it has been sitting for 40 yrs and will be my next project after i finish my 65 fastback mustang this summer. My Father loved cobras so the healey was his poor mans cobra. Dads car is a 56 100m  pretty rare and worht a good dollar now , had he left it stock.I remember many a time as a kid sharing the front seat with my brother and cheeing our dad on as he beat up on all the vettes and other muscle cars back in the day . Fond Memories for sure!
