Wednesday, May 8th, marks the 31st anniversary of the passing of the great Gilles Villeneuve.
I had the good fortune to meet Gilles on a couple of occasions and found him to be a fierce competitor, but when he was away from the car he was a really nice guy and a devoted father. He embodied the best of what a racing driver should be. He is not only a hero to Canadians, but to millions of people around the world.

He is sadly missed.
