1990 CRX Si with D16Y8 engine: eligible?
Dec 28th, 2012 at 6:17am

Hey guys,

I have a chance for a great deal on a 1990 CRX Si with a rebuilt D16Y8 engine swapped into it.

Would this be eligible to run in IP3? Or another class?

I've been trying to find the answer in the SCCA GCR, but no luck. Am I looking in the wrong place -- or just missing the obvious (as usual)?

Thoughts?

Thanks!

For Cacc racing the car must be prepared to the current Scca IT regulations. The engine and other parts that can be swapped are covered in the opening remarks for this class in the Scca GCR.  The car must meet the current Cacc safety requirements. Car classes are based on engine. I don't think this car would fit into IP3 with the engine swap. It would be able to run in IPE.
It also could run in GT or GTS if the safety equipment met the requirements.
