How about this from 1956? Le Mans track conditions during what might be the first in-car broadcast of a lap on the track by a Jaguar.

This should make us feel good about the safety rules we have now!

In 1956 I hadn't quite gotten the road racing bug, but I was in Britain then. I saw my first Lotus 11 (or whatever they were) in Galway. If I'd have been a fan then, I'm sure I'd have gone to a race or two.

I only got really involved in road racing when I came home and went to my first race at Abbotsford Airport.

That's a cool film clip and brings back some great memories.

My conversion came when I saw Jim Rattenbury with his D-type at Abbotsford.
