I have a question about belts that have both SFI and FIA ratings.
Typically the FIA rating is 5 years from manufactured date (or something like that). And the SFI is 2 years. Lets say after 3 years you want to use the belt in a CACC race. Do CACC rules respect the FIA rating when the SFI is expired?
I know SCCA will go with the latest rating (9.G.3 If a restraint system has more than one type of certification label, the label with the latest expiration may be used).
But CACC doesn't specify:
7 - Life Span
A - Belts must bear a legible date stamp from the manufacturer.
B - Driver restraint systems meeting SFI specifications expire after two years from date of manufacture.
These belts shall not be used after the expiration date of the SFI certification.(ie. a belt manufactured in May
2009 shall not be used after May 31, 2011). Driver restraint systems meeting FIA specifications must have
all belts labelled with their date of expiration, and these belts will expire on the last day of the year indicated
on their labels..
Maybe I missed it somewhere in the rules.
Thanks
