Cars best suited for IP3 or IP2.............?
Sep 20th, 2014 at 9:24pm

Hi All......was wondering about building an IP3 or IP2 car. See a lot of CRX's for IP3...wonder if that is the best all around option to start with that class...? And are these all front wheel drive..? Is there a good rear wheel drive option for the class as well that would be competitive..?

As far as IP2 goes......is Celica the way to go there..?
and Rear wheel or front wheel there..?
Think the 1984 Toyota Celica GTS Liftback was rear wheel but unsure if FW is faster...? Just never driven front wheel car and that seems like that would be different to me.

Love any insight on what I would need to do to a stock donor car to get it on the track.

Also love any thoughts on which class has the biggest number show up on the average race weekend with some fun racing.......?

Sorry for all the questions just looking at getting back into racing after 14 years and trying to start ahead and make some smart moves..........for once in my life  Smiley

Thank you !
-Mike

Hondas CRX's are a good IP3 car and as far as IP2 RWD options , a Honda S2000 would be a winning car or possibly a BMW
IP classes have good number and the GTU class seems to usually have ok numbers as well.
These are the Hondas with engine swaps

thank you...never even thought of the s2000...I think that would be cool. seems like donors are certainly more expensive that some others though....maybe i wont feed the kids for a little longer than initially planned  Wink

Don't expect to be running at the front in IP3 if your car is all legal. I tried for 10 years to win and finally gave up when I realized how much HP others cars were making. I suspect IP2 is similar. Go GT or Formula then all is fair in love and war. In the end it will be cheaper. Wink

Ip2  Looks like S-2000

IP3  is verry competitive, a well built LEGAL car drivin well can win races

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
I am not the only one who can attest to having cars 'driveby' on straightaways. Cars that are in the same class with the same engine.

I will have my 1992 Acura Integra GSR for sale at beginning of next season, unless anyone wants to pick it up now and get ahead of everybody for next season ? Offers ?
