Need FC information for Van Diemen RF89
Dec 30th, 2021 at 1:59pm

A friend of mine in Fort St John just bought a Van Diemen RF89 Formula Continental with the Ford Pinto 2 litre motor and Hewland (MK 9) transmission and needs some technical help with the car. Is there anyone on this forum that is knowledgeable about these cars? I've been able to give him some help, but my knowledge is limited.

He is also looking for a source of spare parts.

Your best bet is going to get him signed up on Apexspeed as that is where all the openwheel knowledge is located.

It is also your best bet to find parts and retailers.

www.apexspeed.com

Is he planning on running Vintage or with us in the NWFC?

Mike,

I thought the RF89 used the Hewland LD200 box, but I could be wrong. However, he might have an RF88, which was very, very much the same as the RF89 except for the use of the MK9 and the differences that entailed behind the engine.

A couple of commercial sources for parts he should know about are:

Medina Spares Ltd.

Universal Racing Services

And I've got a couple of lower wishbones for the rear that should be useful for either the RF88 or RF89, as well as a bell housing / oil tank that is definitely only for the RF89 with an LD200 gearbox.
