New class IT-J
Jan 4th, 2012 at 4:46pm

Repost from the ICSCC forum - wow:

Oregon Region announces a new class in 2012, IT-J.

This class is intended to make a spot for Chump- and Lemons-prepared cars to run in Oregon Region Regional races. Chump/Lemons car prep rules are the basis of car preparation, but cars must meet SCCA safety rules for IT car preparation, and driver's gear needs to meet current SCCA General Competition Rules.

Oregon plans to offer several Time Trials sessions during the course of the year for IT-J cars (no SCCA license required for TT). And IT-J cars will be eligible to run in all Oregon Region regional events if the driver does have an SCCA-approved competition license or novice permit.

Not to be a killjoy  Smiley but it will be interesting to see how many people go to the trouble of doing "full safety prep" on a $500 beater.

I'm not seeing the point in this ... but it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Well, judging by the popularity of LeMons, ChumpCar and the infinity of spin-offs.. That would be a LOT of people!

A $500 LeMons car does not cost $500 to build. The safety standards of LeMons are mostly similar to what we have in CACC or SCCA, safety items are NOT counter towards the $500 budget.
