In the latest installment in our series featuring pre-season car preparation by local SCCBC racers, we spotlight local veteran racer Chris Doodson.
After a season-ending engine overheat, Chris’s Smithers McDonalds Honda CRX received a few new parts added to the engine. Chris also enlisted Tommy at Frankenstein Speed and Custom in Langley to fabricate a new exhaust header to help the restricted engine gain back some torque. Once complete, the car will go to Evolution Auto Performance in Maple Ridge for tuning.
Chris is unsure how many local CACC races he will be doing this season as his main focus is to get the car sorted and reliable for the 2018 SCCA Runoffs which will be coming back to the West Coast.
Chris plans 2-3 races in the US to make sure the car will run competitively on the larger faster tracks and hopes to attend at least one local race to sort the brakes out. As Chris says, “if it stops well at Mission, it will stop at any track in North America”.
Good luck to Chris from everyone here at SCCBC.
