SCCBC Driver Profile: Grandma Gayle

gayle-baird“Gramma Gayle”, as she is affectionately known, began her racing career four years ago when her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Bob Williams, knowing she would never learn to knit, got her started.
After retiring in 2007 Gayle took entered the Driver Training program at Mission in 2008 and has raced here ever since. “Racing is a big part of my life now, and I hope it will be for many more years to come” says Gayle.
Not content with competing in a single class, Gayle races both the sedan and the open wheel Formula Vee class, plus acts as membership registrar for the SCCBC. Every race weekend you’ll find that Gayle is one of the busiest racers at River’s Edge. Drop by Gayle’s pit and say hi to a great motorsport competitor and volunteer. And grandmother!
